Fredericksburg Woman Arrested for DWI as Repeat Offender Following Reckless Driving Reports

Rachel Brianna Lee Brave

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at approximately 11:18 a.m., a Gillespie County Sheriff's Deputy responded to multiple reports of a reckless driver heading northbound on South State Highway 16. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was swerving across lanes and narrowly avoided colliding with two oncoming vehicles.

Being in the vicinity at the time of the calls, the deputy quickly located the described vehicle. Observing erratic driving behavior, the deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 3700 block of South State Highway 16. The vehicle came to a stop, but unexpectedly went into reverse, colliding with the patrol unit – an incident deemed unintentional.

Upon making contact with the female driver, law enforcement officers found it necessary to physically assist her out of the vehicle as she failed to comply with requests to identify herself or address her well-being. While interacting with the driver, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from her breath or person. The driver, 36-year-old Rachel Brianna Lee Brave of Fredericksburg, admitted to consuming alcohol within the last thirty minutes.

Following a thorough investigation, the driver was placed under arrest for the offense of Driving While Intoxicated 3d or More and resisting arrest.
