San Antonio Gears Up for 36th Annual MLK March and Celebration: A Day of Unity, Music, and Activism

The 36th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) March and Celebration is set to take place in San Antonio, bringing together the community to honor the life and legacy of the iconic civil rights leader. The event promises a day filled with unity, music, and activism, offering engaging activities for people of all ages.

The highlight of the celebration is the MLK March, which kicks off at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 15, from the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy. The march will wind through the heart of San Antonio, concluding at the historic Pittman-Sullivan Park. This symbolic display of unity and progress serves as a reminder of Dr. King's dream and a call to action for the future.

The celebration continues at Pittman-Sullivan Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live music, tempting food vendors, and a dedicated children's area offering fun activities and games. Informative booths from local organizations focused on social justice and equality will also be present.

Post-march, the park's stage will host three inspiring speakers—Anya Dilliard, Jerome Foster II, and Amariyanna Copeny—who will share their unique perspectives and encourage ongoing efforts toward a more just and equitable world.

The MLK Day March and Celebration is not just a one-day affair; it's part of a month-long series of events in San Antonio. These include educational programs and volunteer opportunities, providing a deeper understanding of Dr. King's message and inspiring individuals to take action in their communities.

Additional events throughout January include the Baptist Ministers Union Worship Service, Youth Summit Game Truck Day, Community Celebration Awards Dinner, Youth Summit Sports Spurs Day, Wreath Laying Ceremony, Interfaith Worship Service, and a Pre-March Worship Service. The community is encouraged to participate in these events, contributing to the collective commitment to equality and justice.
