Northwest Vista College (NVC) at Alamo Colleges has secured the No. 3 position on Intelligent.com's Best Community Colleges in Texas for 2024. This recognition is noteworthy as Texas boasts 118 community colleges, placing NVC among the top institutions.
Intelligent.com employs a distinctive methodology, evaluating institutions on a scale from 0 to 100 across six categories, including academic quality, graduation rate, cost and return on investment, and student resources. NVC's impressive score of 98.45 reflects its commitment to excellence.
NVC President Dr. Amy Bosley attributes the college's success to the dedicated efforts of faculty and staff in providing students with the necessary tools and resources for a thriving college experience. The NVC Student Advocacy & Resource Center has played a crucial role in supporting students and alleviating life pressures during their college journey.
Intelligent.com commended NVC, stating, "With degree programs, certificates, and transfer prep, this school has an option for everyone, and they’ve built an enviable foundation of support for their students." NVC was also nominated for the prestigious $1 million Aspen Prize, recognizing the institution's outstanding record in supporting student outcomes.
In addition to its No. 3 ranking, NVC earned high placements on other platforms, including No. 2 on Career Karma, No. 2 on Stacker, No. 4 on Best Colleges, No. 10 on Niche, and No. 14 on Best Value Schools.
Looking ahead, NVC plans to introduce a new and affordable bachelor's degree in Cloud Computing, pending approval from its accrediting body. Alamo Colleges' San Antonio College, St. Philip’s College, Palo Alto College, and Northeast Lakeview College were also recognized on Intelligent.com's list.
