Bandera ISD Superintendent Gary Bitzkie sent a letter to parents addressing threatening emails sent to school districts in the area.
The letter states:
Bandera ISD, along with Bandera County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), are aware of the blanket threatening email sent to several central Texas school districts in our area, and we are continuing to monitor the situation. BCSO has been in contact with our neighboring law enforcement agencies including the Southwest Texas Fusion Center in San Antonio, Texas Rangers, and FBI to obtain information and will be following the concern closely.
From the information gathered at this time, the threat appears to be unsubstantiated and more along the lines of a hoax that are being spread through social media and email outlets.
In an abundance of caution, Bandera ISD is informing our community so that you know the school district is monitoring this concern. Please know that we will not dismiss any threat and will ensure our staff is vigilant to ensure the safety of everyone in our schools and buildings.
We thank our students, staff, parents and community for always watching out for our schools and reporting any incidents that might affect Bandera ISD.
