In 2024, there will be a new way to get to Florida from San Antonio International Airport (SAT). Spirit Airlines announced it is launching nonstop service from SAT to Tampa International Airport (TPA) beginning on January 11. It’s the seventh destination Spirit has added since it began service from the Alamo City in November 2022. Spirit already flies to two other cities in the Sunshine State: Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
Here’s what to know about the Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier’s latest nonstop service to Tampa:
- It will operate four times weekly (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays)
- The airline will begin with seasonal service through April 5
- Tickets are already on sale
“We know our travelers will use this new service to Tampa,” said Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports, San Antonio Airport System (SAAS). “Once Spirit sees that, the goal is to expand it to daily service that’s offered year-round. Their presence in our market is giving families even more options and opportunities to take that vacation they might have been putting off. The competitive fares are also attracting people across the United States to check out San Antonio.”
Last month, Spirit announced daily, year-round service to Newark, New Jersey, will start on April 5.
This announcement brings Spirit to seven destinations served from SAT. They include:
- Baltimore
- Fort Lauderdale
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- Newark
- Orlando
- Tampa
