A woman was shot by a Northside Independent School District (NISD) police officer at a local athletic stadium on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Northside Independent School District, the shooting incident took place near the 8400 block of North Loop 1604 West around 1:30 p.m.
Authorities reported that the woman was acting aggressively while in her car in the stadium parking lot. Her behavior drew the attention of NISD police officers who were directing traffic during the event. The woman was allegedly acting belligerent and was being aggressive towards an officer.
In response to the perceived threat, the woman drove toward the officer in a threatening manner, prompting the officer to draw his weapon and fire one round. The gunshot struck the woman in the arm. She was subsequently transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The NISD Police Officer involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duty as the investigation continues. He has served with the NISD Police Department for three years and nine months.
Northside ISD officials have confirmed that no students or adults were in danger during the occurrence.
