Two suspects are now in custody following an ATM robbery that occurred on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Kerrville. The Kerrville Police Department swiftly responded to the incident, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The incident unfolded at approximately 12:51 p.m. when a person servicing an ATM in the 200 block of Sidney Baker South was robbed at gunpoint by two individuals, one of whom was armed with a handgun. A quick-thinking 911 caller provided vital information, including descriptions of both suspects and a partial license plate of their getaway vehicle.
Multiple officers from the Kerrville Police Department immediately responded to the scene. Within minutes, at 12:58 p.m., the suspect's silver Mercedes sedan was located in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Hill Country Drive. A witness reported seeing two individuals who matched the suspects' descriptions fleeing the area.
KPD officers and detectives, along with deputies from the Kerr County Sheriff's Office, commenced a thorough search of the apartment complex. Their efforts paid off when one of the suspects was discovered hiding in a utility room. The suspect was apprehended by law enforcement after exiting the utility room.
The second suspect remained concealed inside the utility room for a longer duration but eventually exited at around 1:37 p.m. A subsequent search of the utility room unveiled the handgun used in the robbery and the stolen money.
UPDATE: The two suspects have been identified as Gabriel Lance Butler II, 20 years old, with a Baytown, Texas address, and Camryon Jevon Cagan, 20 years old, with a Highlands, Texas address.
Both suspects are charged with Aggravated Robbery, a first degree felony; and Theft, a second degree felony. The theft charge is a felony of the second degree due to value of the property stolen being less than $30,000 and the property stolen is an ATM or contents or components of an ATM.
