On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at approximately 8:14 a.m., a traffic stop initiated by a Gillespie County Sheriff Deputy unfolded in the 1300 block of South SH 16. The reason for the stop was an equipment violation observed on a vehicle.
The deputy approached the vehicle and encountered the male driver along with three male passengers. During the initial interaction, the deputy noted the presence of an open alcoholic beverage and other alcoholic drinks within the vehicle. Additionally, one of the passengers was seen attempting to conceal an object beneath the seat cover.
Suspecting a possible violation, the deputy proceeded to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, law enforcement officers discovered two small baggies containing a substance identified as methamphetamine, with an estimated total weight of approximately 7.32 grams. In addition, a methamphetamine pipe was found concealed under the seat cover.
As a result of the discovery, a 26-year-old male passenger hailing from Kerrville, Texas, who was linked to hiding the illicit items, was placed under arrest. He now faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B, specifically, a quantity exceeding 4 grams but less than 200 grams.
Furthermore, additional drug paraphernalia was located within the vehicle and in the possession of one of the other passengers. Despite this find, they were released from the traffic stop by authorities.
