Corey Leonard King

SAN ANTONIO - A 44-year-old man was arrested after Bexar County sheriff's deputies used a drone to locate him hiding in an attic following a reported domestic violence incident Wednesday.

Deputies responded Sept. 16 to a home in the 1500 block of Barons Den after a 911 hang-up call, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived, two juveniles met them outside and reported that a woman was inside the home with Corey Leonard King, who was armed with a knife and threatening her.

As deputies prepared to enter the residence, the woman was able to get outside while King remained inside, authorities said.

Additional deputies responded, along with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office SWAT and negotiation teams. Officers secured a perimeter around the home as they worked to locate King.

SWAT personnel deployed a compact drone inside the residence and found King hiding in the attic, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies then entered the home and took him into custody without further incident.

Authorities said King had recently been released from prison, but did not provide details about his previous conviction or when he was released.

King is being carged with:

  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (second-degree felony)
  • 2 counts of Terroristic Threat of Family/Household
  • Violation of Bond/Protective Order
  • Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Another Felony
