CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A South Texas drug trafficker has been sentenced to 7½ years in federal prison as part of an ongoing multi-agency investigation that has dismantled a large drug trafficking organization, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced.
Braulio Soto, a U.S. citizen, was sentenced on July 24 to 90 months in federal prison following an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations office in Corpus Christi and its Homeland Security Task Force partners.
According to ICE, the investigation remains active and has already resulted in significant enforcement actions.
To date, authorities have made 34 state arrests, secured 11 federal indictments and obtained nine federal convictions connected to the drug trafficking organization.
Investigators have also seized approximately seven pounds of methamphetamine, 1.74 pounds of ecstasy, 55 grams of fentanyl, three firearms and $14,258 in U.S. currency during the course of the investigation.
Federal authorities did not release additional details regarding Soto's role in the trafficking organization or identify the other individuals charged as part of the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
