SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A San Antonio man was arrested after Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputies seized more than 1.6 kilograms of dimethyltryptamine, commonly known as DMT, along with methamphetamine, cash and drug paraphernalia during the execution of a narcotics search warrant.
Deputies executed the search warrant on July 23 at a residence in the 5300 block of Medical Drive in northwest San Antonio.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, 51-year-old Troy Jordan Theologes was detained without incident nearby while deputies searched the residence.
Investigators said they discovered a digital scale, multiple vials containing suspected DMT, DMT vape cartridges and methamphetamine on a table in the kitchen.
A continued search of the residence led to the recovery of individually packaged DMT, prescription medication and a backpack containing $11,035 in cash.
In total, deputies seized approximately 1,613 grams, or about 3.6 pounds, of suspected DMT and approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine.
Authorities said DMT is a powerful psychedelic drug capable of producing intense hallucinations and, under certain circumstances, may contribute to serious medical emergencies, including seizures or heart attacks.
Theologes was taken into custody and charged with manufacture or delivery of a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance weighing 400 grams or more and possession of a Penalty Group 1/1-B controlled substance weighing between 4 and 200 grams.
The investigation remains ongoing.
