LA VERNIA, Texas - A 52-year-old La Vernia woman has been arrested on multiple felony charges after investigators say she intentionally struck a pedestrian with her vehicle following an argument earlier this month.
The United States Marshals Service took Stacy Lynette Gunter into custody on July 29 in Bexar County on felony warrants issued by the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation began on July 11 when Wilson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 100 block of Champions Boulevard in La Vernia after receiving a report that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian.
According to investigators, deputies determined the incident appeared to be intentional and that the driver fled the scene without stopping.
Through witness interviews and evidence collected during the investigation, authorities identified Gunter as the driver of a white Jeep Rubicon involved in the incident.
Investigators allege Gunter intentionally struck the victim with her vehicle following an argument.
Based on the investigation, the Wilson County Sheriff's Office obtained warrants charging Gunter with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, collision involving serious bodily injury and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent.
With assistance from the United States Marshals Service, Gunter was located in San Antonio and taken into custody without incident on July 29.
The Wilson County Sheriff's Office thanked neighbors, witnesses and members of the public who shared information that assisted investigators in locating Gunter. The agency also recognized the United States Marshals Service, along with its dispatchers, deputies and investigators, for their roles in the investigation and arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing.
