POTEET, Texas — A TikTok content creator known online as "machetillo" was arrested during a livestream as part of an ongoing child sexual assault investigation, according to the Poteet Police Department.
In a social media post announcing the arrest, the department said investigators have been working since April 2025 on a case involving the alleged sexual assault of a child.
Authorities identified the suspect as Omar Adalid Gavarette Portillo, who is known on TikTok by the username "machetillo."
According to investigators, locating Portillo proved difficult because he is a Honduran national who did not have local identification records or traditional employment information that could assist in determining his whereabouts.
Police said a major breakthrough came when the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office was able to determine Portillo's location in Harris County.
After that information was developed, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office took Portillo into custody during a live broadcast on his TikTok account.
The Poteet Police Department referenced the arrest in a tongue-in-cheek statement, jokingly apologizing for interrupting the livestream.
Authorities did not release details regarding the specific allegations, the age of the alleged victim, or the charges Portillo faces.
The investigation remains ongoing.
