BUDA, Texas - The Buda Police Department announced Friday that detectives have linked a shooting in downtown Buda to a separate shooting spree that occurred in south Austin earlier this month.
According to investigators, the shooting happened around 5 a.m. on May 17 in the 500 block of Main Street in Buda.
Officers responded after a business alarm was triggered by a glass break sensor. When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings and damage to the business, including shattered windows and bullet damage to both interior and exterior walls.
Authorities said the business was unoccupied at the time of the shooting, and no injuries were reported.
Detectives with the Buda Police Department worked alongside the Austin Police Department and used physical evidence along with Flock Safety camera data to connect the Buda shooting to the south Austin shooting spree that occurred between May 16 and May 17.
Police said the current charge under investigation is deadly conduct, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and fines up to $10,000. Investigators noted additional charges could be filed as the case develops.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Raul Valdez at rvaldez@budatx.gov or submit anonymous tips through Hays County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-324-TIPS.
