ZAVALA COUNTY, Texas — A traffic stop in Batesville led to the arrest of a Fort Worth-area man wanted on multiple warrants after deputies discovered a handgun inside his vehicle, according to the Zavala County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Sgt. V. Alvizo stopped a red 2017 Ram pickup around 6:51 a.m. on May 16, 2026, after the vehicle was allegedly traveling 54 mph in a 40 mph zone.
The driver was identified as Keonte Dwayne Hogan.
During the stop, Hogan reportedly told deputies there were no weapons inside the truck.
A records check through Crystal City Communications revealed Hogan was wanted in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on multiple active warrants, including Assault Impeding Breath or Circulation and Interference with an Emergency Phone Call.
Authorities also said the Fort Worth Police Department advised deputies Hogan had several additional pending warrants.
During a routine inventory search before the vehicle was towed, deputies located a Taurus .380 ACP handgun hidden inside the center console, investigators said.
Deputy J. Jimenez assisted at the scene while the truck was impounded by Garcia’s Wrecker Service.
Hogan was transported to the Zavala County Jail for booking.
