Man Arrested After Report of Suspicious Behavior Near Crystal City School

Felipe Saucedo Jr.

CRYSTAL CITY, Texas — A man was arrested Sunday evening after reports of suspicious behavior near a school and a brief foot pursuit, according to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy J. Camarillo responded around 7:05 p.m. on March 29, 2026, to the area of North 12th Avenue and East Chambers Street after receiving reports of a man making inappropriate comments to juveniles.

Upon arrival, the deputy located the suspect, identified as 59-year-old Felipe Saucedo Jr.

During a consensual encounter, authorities discovered Saucedo had an active out-of-county warrant from Travis County. When the deputy attempted to take him into custody, Saucedo fled on foot toward Benito Juarez School.

After ignoring commands to stop, a Taser was deployed. Officials said Saucedo attempted to flee again, pulling the Taser wires loose before being subdued following a brief struggle.

A search of his backpack revealed a green leafy substance and a glass pipe, according to deputies.

Saucedo was evaluated by emergency personnel before being transported to the Zavala County Jail.

Officials thanked community members for reporting the suspicious activity, noting their vigilance helped ensure a quick response.
