NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Two additional suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the killing of a 16-year-old male last week, bringing the total number of people charged with capital murder to four, according to the New Braunfels Police Department.
The homicide on Saengerhalle Road.occurred on February 19, 2026.
Police previously announced that 18-year-old Jayce Cooper was identified as the alleged shooter. Cooper sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and remains in custody at University Hospital in San Antonio. A second suspect, a 16-year-old male, was also charged and is being held at the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.
Following continued investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants on February 25 for two additional suspects: a 17-year-old male from New Braunfels and 23-year-old Jayden Lee Villa-McMarion of Converse. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Guadalupe County Jail.
Investigators said the new charges stem from evidence showing the suspects acted as parties to the offense. Under Texas law, individuals can face capital murder charges if they assist, encourage, or participate in a crime that results in a death, even if they were not the person who fired the fatal shot.
Authorities say all four individuals are now charged with capital murder in connection with the case.
