KYLE, Texas - A traffic stop conducted by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit led to the seizure of approximately 25 kilograms of suspected cocaine and the arrest of a driver traveling through Kyle, authorities said.
On February 21st, at about 4 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle near exit 215 on northbound Interstate 35 after observing indicators of possible criminal activity. During the investigation, deputies deployed a dual-purpose K9, which alerted to the presence of narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 25 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed inside. Officials estimated the wholesale value of the seized drugs at approximately $325,000.
The driver, identified 30-year-old Armando Guerra of Rio Grande City in Starr County, Texas, was arrested and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, a first-degree felony. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
The Criminal Interdiction Unit specializes in targeting criminal activity along major transportation corridors in Hays County, including Interstate 35, State Highway 21, and U.S. Highway 290. Authorities said the unit combines traffic enforcement with proactive investigations aimed at disrupting narcotics trafficking and other criminal offenses.
