Woman Arrested for DWI and Evading After Pursuit in Bexar County

Janellcie Sharay Gibbons

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas - A woman is facing charges after deputies say she initially fled a traffic stop early February 10.

Around 7:00 a.m., deputies observed a black Cadillac traveling in the center lane of a no-passing zone. When emergency lights were activated, the driver did not immediately pull over and continued past several locations before eventually stopping.

Deputies reported the driver, identified as 30-year-old Janellcie Sharay Gibbons, showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech. At one point, she reportedly handed a debit card to deputies instead of her driver’s license.

When asked to step out of the vehicle to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Gibbons allegedly put the car in drive and fled the scene.

A pursuit was briefly initiated but was quickly terminated out of concern for public safety. Deputies had already identified the driver and later tracked the Cadillac to a residence on Gibbs Avenue. Gibbons and the vehicle were located there. Authorities say she refused to cooperate and was taken into custody without further incident.

Gibbons was transported to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center South Tower and booked on charges of Evading Arrest and Driving While Intoxicated.
