San Antonio Man Sentenced to 47 Years for Brutal Abuse of Disabled Roommate

Kamron Kearney

A Bexar County man has been sentenced to 47 years in prison for a horrific 2023 assault on his disabled roommate. The sentence was handed down Monday, December 8, 2025, in the 379th District Court by Judge Ron Rangel.

Prosecutors said 28-year-old Kamron Kearney carried out repeated acts of abuse in November, 2023, against the victim, a 36-year-old woman, while the two were living together. According to the arrest affidavit, Kearney was "angry with the victim for urinating on herself and said she needed to be punished." The attacks caused extensive injuries, including burns from being set on fire after Kearney poured alcohol on her body, and additional severe burns from scalding water he threw on her while she was in the shower. The victim suffered major injuries to her back, neck, and legs.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Michelle Haden and Mariela Encinas of the Family Violence Division, with support from Victim Advocate Alexis Smith and Investigator Kyle Scott.

“This defendant exploited a vulnerable victim and subjected her to horrific acts of violence in what should have been the safety of her own home,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. “Our office will always stand up for those who cannot protect themselves, and this sentence ensures the defendant cannot harm anyone else.”
