GILLETT, TX – On Sunday, November 30, 2025, the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred near County Road 289, close to the Gonzales County line. The victim was treated at a hospital, where evidence confirmed that the assault included choking to the point of asphyxiation and threats with a knife.
Given the violent nature of the incident and the suspect’s criminal history, KCSO requested assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Texas Rangers Division and SWAT. The combined task force safely apprehended the suspect, who was taken into custody on three outstanding arrest warrants related to the assault.
A search warrant executed at the suspect’s location yielded additional evidence pertinent to the investigation. The suspect is being held at the KCSO Jail awaiting magistration and faces charges including Aggravated Sexual Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Assault of a Family/Household Member – Impeding Breath or Circulation.
