Gonzales County Warns Residents About Man Impersonating County Contractor

Wanted suspect and vehicle

The Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be on alert after a man attempted to pose as a county contractor and sell road materials to a homeowner earlier this month.

On November 13, 2025, deputies received a report that a man claimed he was contracted by Gonzales County to perform road work and tried to sell materials to a resident. After confirming with a county commissioner, officials determined the man was not affiliated with the county in any way.

The individual was described as a white male wearing a blue shirt and driving a newer gray Ford Super Duty pickup with Arizona license plates VJA153. Deputies were able to locate and identify him as Brandon Michael Ferguson, who they say has a long history of deception in several states. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ferguson typically offers materials or work at a low price, then returns demanding several thousand dollars more than originally quoted. Officials believe he has been successful with this scheme in the past.

Residents who spot Ferguson or the vehicle are urged to contact the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office at 830-672-6524.
