Fugitive From Hays County Sexual Assault Case Extradited from Canada,

Juan Pablo Acosta

BUDA, Texas – Juan Pablo Acosta, 45, has been extradited from Canada and booked into the Hays County Jail on multiple sexual assault charges, following a multi-year investigation involving the Buda Police Department and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

Acosta was originally arrested in July 2021 on two counts of Sexual Assault (2nd Degree Felony) and a bond forfeiture related to a prior Travis County firearm case. He bonded out of the Hays County Jail on July 15, 2021, on a total bond of $103,500.

In November 2021, approximately 30 additional sexual assault warrants were issued for Acosta by Justice of the Peace Precinct 5. By December 2021, Acosta had become a fugitive, and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Division began working to locate him. Investigators later determined he was residing in Toronto, Canada, which complicated arrest efforts due to international legal restrictions.

The Special Services Division coordinated with the United States Marshals Service and the Hays County District Attorney’s Office to secure federal approval for extradition. On June 27, 2025, Acosta was arrested by Canadian authorities on unrelated charges and held without bond.

On October 29, 2025, Acosta was successfully extradited to Texas and booked into the Hays County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Buda Police Department, the Hays County District Attorney’s Office, and the United States Marshals Service for their cooperation in bringing Acosta into custody.
