On Thursday, October 23rd, while on patrol, Bexar County Precinct 1 Deputy C. Ramirez prevented a kidnapping attempt on Highway 281 North near the St. Mary’s Street onramp.

Deputy Ramirez noticed several people frantically trying to get his attention and immediately stopped to investigate. Upon contact, the victim and witnesses reported that a man had jumped into a vehicle and tried to take an infant from the back seat while the mother was pulled over attending to her child.

Thanks to Deputy Ramirez’s quick response, the suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation at a local hospital. Charges are expected once the evaluation is complete.

Officials credited Deputy Ramirez, Precinct 4 deputies, and the San Antonio Police Department for their teamwork and swift action in ensuring the safety of the child and the community.
