Pleasanton Police Arrest Suspect After High-Speed Chase and Drug Seizure

Drugs seized

On October 22, 2025, around 5 p.m., Pleasanton Police Officer Villa attempted a traffic stop on a black Kia Sorrento in the 1300 block of Highway 97 East for a traffic violation. During the stop, the driver began moving around inside the vehicle, prompting Officer Villa to call for backup.

Moments later, the suspect sped off, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit eastbound on Highway 97 toward Interstate 37. During the chase, officers saw the driver throw a backpack out of the window before continuing at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The pursuit eventually led to the area of Verdi Road and Fuller Road, where officers lost sight of the vehicle.

A perimeter was quickly established with assistance from the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). A DPS helicopter joined the search, and before long, a deputy located the suspect vehicle nearby. Officers obtained credible information that the suspect was hiding inside a shed. After a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the discarded backpack revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. A later search of the vehicle uncovered heroin.

The 44-year-old suspect from Pleasanton was transported to the Atascosa County Jail, where he faces multiple felony charges, including Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Marijuana, and two counts of Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Pleasanton Police expressed gratitude to the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office and DPS for their assistance and coordination in safely resolving the incident.
