Boerne Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Disabled 18-Wheeler on I-10

BOERNE, TX – The Boerne Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday night along the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near mile marker 540.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on October 15, officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler and a Toyota Tundra. Upon arrival, police determined that the Tundra had crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Tundra, 40-year-old Bradly Dietert, was pronounced dead at the scene. A portion of the interstate remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the crash site.

Preliminary findings indicate the 18-wheeler had become disabled in the inside lane due to a possible electrical or mechanical failure. Witnesses reported that the tanker’s rear lights, including hazard lights, were not illuminated until seconds before the collision.

Texas DPS assisted Boerne Police with the investigation. The driver of the 18-wheeler is cooperating with authorities, and next of kin has been notified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
