San Marcos Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Violent Crimes, Repeat Offenses

Defendant: Cameron Moore

SAN MARCOS, TX -- Hays County Criminal District Attorney Kelly Higgins announced that Cameron Moore, 44, formerly of Bexar County, was convicted Friday of burglary of a habitation with felonious intent, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with a witness, and endangering a child.

The conviction was handed down on September 19, 2025, by Hays County District Court Judge Sherri Tibbe, who sentenced Moore to life in prison.

Moore has a violent history with the same victim. In 2019, he was prosecuted for aggravated kidnapping, attempted capital murder, stalking, and violation of a protective order. Evidence presented at trial revealed that Moore placed a GPS tracker on the victim’s vehicle, followed her to a police station, and then strangled her in the parking lot. He was carrying a zip tie and a pocketknife at the time.

That jury convicted him of lesser charges, and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, while incarcerated, Moore continued making threats of violence against another victim, raising concerns that he would pose an ongoing danger if released.

Assistant District Attorneys Katie Arnold and Courtney Hanson prosecuted the latest case.

“We’d like to thank the survivor in this case. Without her ongoing determination and bravery, we would not be able to ensure that such a violent criminal was behind bars,” said ADA Katie Arnold. “It’s been a long journey for her, and we’re pleased that she will be safe from him, as well as any other women that cross his path.”
