GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas—A routine traffic stop in Guadalupe County led to the seizure of approximately 5 kilos of methamphetamine and the arrest of a San Antonio man who is now facing federal charges.

On Monday, August 25, Guadalupe County Sheriff's Deputies stopped a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas on I-10 westbound for a traffic violation. An occupant of the vehicle was identified as Stephen A. Andrews of San Antonio.

A Nixon Police Department K-9 unit was brought to the scene and conducted a "free air sniff" of the vehicle, providing a positive alert for the presence of illicit narcotics. The subsequent search resulted in the discovery of the methamphetamine.

Andrews was taken into custody and booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Facility. He is facing federal charges in the U.S. Western District Court of Texas.
