Pipe Creek First Responder's Account Praises Teamwork and Compassion After Hwy 16 Wreck

A volunteer firefighter with the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department is being recognized for his message praising the department's response to a serious vehicle accident on the evening of Saturday, August 23.

Firefighter P. Galindo, who joined the department four months ago, shared a message in the department's group chat that authorities chose to share publicly.

"What I witnessed from everyone last night on that 10-50 was nothing short of phenomenal from everyone," Galindo wrote. He highlighted the human element shown toward the victims, noting, "Not sure how it was possible to make a victim laugh while pulling traction on their femur, but that happened (Justin)."

Galindo described the scene as a "nightmare" for the crash victims but said the Pipe Creek Fire team responded with "sharp focus and real care." He noted that the team kept the victims "grounded, talking them through the chaos like it was just another day."

"The way you moved together, reading the scene and each other without missing a beat, made all the difference," Galindo wrote. "Those three are going home to their families because of you, and I'm damn glad to work with people who can pull that off."

The department thanked Galindo for his comments and encouraged anyone interested in volunteering to call them.
