Explosives, Grenades, and Extremist Materials Seized in Timberwood Park; Bexar County Man Arrested

James Nathan Henderson

On Friday, July 12, 2025, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the ATF, San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad, and the Bexar County Fire Marshal's Office, arrested 39-year-old Nathan James Henderson following the execution of a search warrant on Oracle Drive in Timberwood Park (North of San Antonio).

The warrant was issued after authorities received a credible tip regarding threats of mass violence and possession of illegal explosive components. Henderson was reportedly making threats against individuals based on race, religion, and government affiliation, and had allegedly referenced a homemade detonator and intentions of large-scale violence.

During the search of the residence, investigators recovered:

  • Multiple firearms and ammunition

  • Chemicals and materials commonly used to construct improvised explosive devices (IEDs)

  • Notebooks detailing extremist ideology and vague plans to disrupt public venues

  • 24 grenades with striker mechanisms

  • A homemade igniter with remote detonation capabilities

  • Nearly 100 metal cylinders believed to be intended for making blasting caps

The SAPD Bomb Squad and Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed that several of the recovered grenades had been partially modified and were in various stages of construction. Investigators believe Henderson was actively experimenting with explosive devices.

All hazardous items were safely secured. Henderson was taken into custody without incident. He faces charges related to possession of explosive components, prohibited weapons, terrorism, and hoax bombs.
