Wimberley Restaurant Fire Now a Homicide Case After Employee Dies from Injuries

The Hays County Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed that 23-year-old Zachary Salley died on July 13, 2025, from injuries sustained during a fire at Savage’s Hill Country Bar and Grill on June 27. Salley was an employee of the restaurant.

Fire crews responded to the blaze at the business located at 9595 Rand Road 12 in Wimberley. Responding agencies included Wimberley Fire Rescue, South Hays Fire Department, San Marcos Fire Department, Canyon Lake Fire Department, Wimberley EMS, and the Hays County Fire Marshal’s Office. The restaurant was completely destroyed in the fire.

Following an investigation, 24-year-old Aidan Lane Dwyer of Houston was arrested in Buna, Texas. He has been charged with Arson, Burglary of a Building, and now Murder in connection with the fire and Salley’s death. Dwyer remains in custody at the Hays County Jail. His bond was previously set at $250,000 before the homicide charge was filed.
