The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with Bexar County Animal Control and the Animal Crimes Enforcement Unit (ACE), executed an animal seizure warrant Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at a residence in the 7800 block of Sarepto, revealing disturbing conditions for several dogs.

The investigation began on June 25, 2025, when a concerned delivery driver reported the condition of dogs at the location. Animal Control conducted a welfare check on June 27, finding five dogs in severe states of neglect, displaying visible rib and hip bones, signs of malnutrition, and no access to food or water.

When initially contacted, the owner attributed the dogs' appearance to "worms" and claimed to have treated them, but provided no documentation. The owner also admitted to being out of town for most of the month, leaving the animals in the care of a relative.

Due to the severe conditions, a seizure warrant was obtained. During the operation on Wednesday, Cedric Taylor, 32, identified himself as a "part-owner" and "caretaker" at the residence. He confirmed his responsibility for providing food and water but, like the owner, could not provide any evidence of proper care for the dogs.

Taylor was arrested on sight and charged with Animal Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals, a third-degree felony.

All five dogs were rescued from the property and are now receiving immediate medical care under the supervision of Bexar County Animal Control. Custody of the animals will remain with Animal Control pending a hearing before the Bexar County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office extended thanks to their partners at Bexar County Animal Control and the ACE Unit for their swift action in saving the pets, reiterating that "Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Bexar County."
