Cold Case: Seguin Police Seeking Answers in 1990 Murder of Army Veteran

Victim: Joel Garcia

June 29, 2025, marks 35 years since the unsolved murder of Joel Garcia, who was killed outside MC’s Lounge at 1000 E. Kingsbury Street on the night of June 29, 1990.

Garcia, a U.S. Army veteran and devoted father, was involved in a confrontation inside the bar that escalated into a fatal assault in the parking lot. He served his country for four years and is remembered daily by his daughter, who continues to push for justice in his case.

Investigators with the Seguin Police Department believe several people were outside the bar at the time and may have witnessed the attack that led to Garcia’s death.

Seguin PD is urging anyone with information—no matter how minor—to come forward. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Seguin Police Department at (830) 379-2123 or submit a tip anonymously through Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at (877) 403-TIPS (8477) or online at www.gccsTIPS.org
