A 49-year-old San Marcos man was arrested after allegedly attempting to take inappropriate photos of a woman at a local Walmart.
On April 24, a woman shopping at the Walmart on Highway 80 noticed a man following her through the store. She told police the man tried to take photos under her skirt with his phone. She pushed him away and alerted a store employee. San Marcos Police were called immediately.
Responding officers reviewed store surveillance video, which confirmed the man had followed the woman around the store. Detectives later used the footage to identify the suspect and obtain a search warrant.
On May 15, police arrested Andy Longoria of San Marcos. Officers recovered clothing matching that seen in the video as well as the phone believed to have been used in the incident.
Longoria is now in custody and has been charged with Invasive Visual Recording, a felony under Texas law. The investigation is ongoing.
San Marcos Police are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim in a similar incident to contact SMPD.
