The Bandera County Historical Commission (BCHC) is reaching out to the community for assistance in locating several historic cemeteries within the county. Bill Pannebaker, chairman of the BCHC cemetery committee, along with commission chair Kim Miles, have been diligently photographing and cataloging cemeteries in Bandera County for the past two years, documenting over 20 sites ranging from single graves to larger cemeteries like the Jones Cemetery in Utopia.
Now, the BCHC has encountered a challenge in pinpointing the precise locations of some known graves and small burial sites. They have compiled a list of 30 unrecorded sites and will periodically share a few in hopes that the public can provide location information or contact details. The commission is particularly interested in locating smaller cemeteries to ensure they are not forgotten over time.
The information gathered will be used solely by the BCHC and the Frontier Times Museum and will not be shared publicly.
The BCHC is currently seeking information on the following three sites:
Residents of Bandera County who have any knowledge of the locations or contact information related to these cemeteries are kindly requested to contact the Bandera County Historical Commission via email at: banderahistoricalcommission@gmail.com.
The BCHC expresses its sincere appreciation for the community's input and assistance in this important project to preserve the history of Bandera County.
