On April 28, 2025, at approximately 4:00 AM, Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division deputies responded to a report of a vehicle obstructing the roadway in the 100 Block of Sutherland Lane. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an abandoned Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
While investigating the abandoned vehicle, deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at the Mini-Mart located in the 4400 Block of Highway 27, where individuals were reportedly knocking on the windows. At the Mini-Mart, deputies encountered 22-year-old Gonzalo Mendoza-Gonzalez and a female subject. The female subject denied any association with the abandoned truck. Deputies provided Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez and the female subject with a courtesy ride to a local hotel.
Shortly after releasing the individuals, the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office received notification from the Austin Police Department that the abandoned Chevrolet Silverado had been implicated in a homicide that occurred on April 27, 2025.
Kerr County deputies returned to the hotel and detained both Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez and the female subject. A subsequent search of Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez revealed a handgun and ammunition.
Austin Police Homicide Detectives traveled to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office to further the homicide investigation and take possession of the involved vehicle. Following the joint investigation by the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office and the Austin Police Department, Gonzalo Mendoza-Gonzalez was arrested for Murder.
Gonzalo Mendoza-Gonzalez is currently being held in the Kerr County Jail.
