The City of Bandera has officially designated the stretch of Highways 173 and 16 through Downtown Bandera as the Arkey Blues Silver Dollar Highway, honoring local music icon Arkey Juenke and his legendary venue, The Silver Dollar Saloon.

The announcement coincides with a milestone celebration—May 1, 2025, marks the 57th anniversary of The Silver Dollar, a venue widely recognized as one of the best honky tonks in Texas and a landmark for live country music lovers around the world.

Located at the corner of Cedar Street and Main Street, The Silver Dollar Saloon has long been a cornerstone of Bandera’s cultural identity, drawing visitors from across the globe to experience its authentic Texas charm.

Arkey Juenke, a celebrated singer, songwriter, and Bandera legend, is credited with turning the venue into an iconic destination and establishing a lasting musical legacy that continues to shape the city’s identity.

City officials say the honorary highway designation aims to preserve and promote Bandera's historic ties to country music for generations to come.
