A man wanted out of Bexar County for Aggravated Assault and multiple theft charges was captured Tuesday morning, April 22, after leading Atascosa County deputies on a vehicle and foot pursuit in Jourdanton.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Ruben Garcia of Del Valle, Texas, was spotted by deputies driving a Jeep recently reported stolen from San Antonio. When deputies attempted a traffic stop at the northern edge of Jourdanton, Garcia fled in the stolen vehicle.
The pursuit continued toward the area of Hwy 173 and Fern Hollow Drive, where Garcia crashed through a fence and fled on foot into a rural area.
As deputies searched the area, Garcia approached a nearby private residence, where he was confronted by an armed homeowner. The homeowner held Garcia at gunpoint and called law enforcement. Deputies arrived moments later and took Garcia into custody without further incident.
In addition to his existing warrants from Bexar County, Garcia now faces charges in Atascosa County including Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Evading on Foot, and Criminal Mischief. He was transported to the Atascosa County Jail.
