A road rage incident on Tuesday afternoon, April 29, led to gunfire and an arrest in Atascosa County along FM 476 west of Poteet.
According to the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office, the incident began when a minor vehicle accident occurred, and the driver who caused the crash fled the scene. The victim followed the suspect and called 911.
A short distance later, the fleeing driver — identified as 33-year-old David Clark Preston Jr. — intentionally struck the victim’s car again before pulling out a handgun and firing at the victim. No one was struck by the gunfire.
Deputies arrived moments later and located Preston along with the firearm used in the incident. He was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Preston was booked into the Atascosa County Jail, where he remains in custody.
The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office thanked the DPS Troopers and DPS Air Unit for their assistance in the response.
