Bandera's Kinlee Lawlis Claims Regional Long Jump and 200M Titles; Relay Team Advances to State


Bandera High School senior Kinlee Lawlis dominated at the UIL 4A Region 4 Track & Field Championships, earning the title of Regional Champion in both the Long Jump and 200 Meter Dash during the meet hosted by Texas A&M Kingsville on April 18-19.

Lawlis secured the Long Jump title with a mark of 18-9.25, narrowly edging out Trinity Anscombe of Robstown for first place. She also finished first in the 4A Girls 200 Meter Dash Finals with a 24.77 mark, finishing ahead of Manor New Tech’s Malya Curry and Port Isabel’s Elle Wall.

In addition to her individual performances, Lawlis ran as part of Bandera’s 4x200 Meter Relay team, alongside teammates Merry Robinson, Milesia Casas, and Sydney Moore. The team finished first in the 4A Girls 4x200 Meter Relay Finals with a time of 1:41.81, defeating Comal Canyon Lake and Cuero. The victory secures the relay team a spot at the upcoming UIL State Track & Field Championships.

Bandera also earned a podium finish in the 4A Girls 4x400 Meter Relay Finals, placing third with a time of 4:02.05.

Lawlis, who recently signed her letter of intent to compete for Angelo State University, capped off a strong regional showing for Bandera athletes. Other notable performances included:

  • Sam Snavely, 7th place, 4A Boys 400 Meter Dash Finals (52.97)

  • Roman Rigelsky, 10th place, 4A Boys Discus Finals (129-4)

  • Gavin Spruell, 7th place, 4A Boys Shot Put Finals (47-6)

  • Sydney Moore, 5th place, 4A Girls 100 Meter Hurdles Finals (15.96)
