The Schertz Police Department is investigating a fatal train collision involving a pedestrian that occurred Monday, April 21, 2025, in the 1000 block of FM 78.
Police were dispatched at approximately 12:04 PM after Union Pacific reported that an individual had entered the tracks as a train was approaching. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3.
Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the victim, who appears to be an adult male between 35 and 45 years old. Next of kin will be notified before any further information is released.
Schertz Police thanked the Guadalupe County Constables, Precinct 3, and Union Pacific investigators for their assistance at the scene.
Police Chief Jim Lowery said preliminary findings suggest the incident may have been intentional. The investigation remains ongoing.
Schertz Parkway was the only roadway affected by the accident, and police expected it to reopen within 30 minutes of the announcement.
