Peterson Health Announces Hiring of New President and CEO

John McDonald

Peterson Health has announced the appointment of John McDonald, FACHE, as its new President and CEO. The selection follows an extensive search and interview process. McDonald's extensive healthcare background and leadership qualities were key factors in the board's decision.

Mary Liz Eastland, Chair-Elect for Peterson Health, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We are thrilled to have John as the next leader of our team. John stood out as not only having great experience and leadership ability, but also the personality and values that align with our mission and culture." Board Chair Tom Houdeshell also thanked the search committee for their dedication and expressed confidence that McDonald will continue the organization's legacy of patient-centered care and regional growth.

A Texas native, McDonald holds degrees from Texas A&M and the University of Houston-Clear Lake. His career includes leadership roles at Houston Methodist Hospital System, Texas Children’s Hospital, Universal Health Services in Amarillo, and HCA Healthcare, where he most recently served as CEO of Centerpoint Medical Center in Missouri.

McDonald expressed his excitement about moving to the Texas Hill Country with his wife Jessica, noting strong family connections to the area. "Peterson is a great organization with a long tradition of serving the Hill Country. Having the opportunity to raise my two daughters in Kerrville and serve this community is truly a dream come true," he said.

The McDonald family is currently transitioning to Kerrville, and John McDonald will officially assume his new role at Peterson Health in June.
