Funeral Services Set for New Braunfels Police Sergeant After Battle with Cancer

Funeral services for New Braunfels Police Department Sergeant Andrew Kempker will be held on Monday, January 6th, at 10 a.m. at Tree of Life Church. Sgt. Kempker, a 16-year veteran of the New Braunfels Police Department, passed away on January 2nd, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sgt. Kempker began his law enforcement career in 2003 with the San Antonio ISD Police Department before joining the New Braunfels Police Department in 2008. During his tenure with NBPD, he served as a patrol officer, Community Liaison Officer, a member of the Traffic Unit, and the Crisis Negotiation Team. He earned the rank of Master Peace Officer, was named NBPD Officer of the Year in 2009, and was honored as the New Braunfels Noon Lions Club First Responder of the Year in 2024.

Known for his compassion and dedication to helping others, Sgt. Kempker touched many lives throughout his career. He is survived by his wife and two young children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Braunfels Police Officers Association FOP Lodge #830.

In honor of Sgt. Kempker’s service and memory, New Braunfels Police Department officers will wear mourning bands on their badges until the funeral is complete.
