Harper Man Arrested After Being Detained at Gunpoint During Burglary Investigation

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 6:59 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Lakin Spur following a report of a burglary in progress. While en route, the Chief of Harper ISD Police also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the chief observed a male subject holding another male subject at gunpoint, with the latter on the ground. The individual on the ground was detained.

The situation unfolded when the male subject had been summoned to the residence by his daughter, who had heard a noise outside and suspected someone was trying to enter. He arrived to find the male subject sitting in his daughter's vehicle. After the subject exited the vehicle, the father ordered him to the ground, and he complied.

The deputy arrived shortly after and collected information. The detained male subject was not recognized by the reporting parties and had no vehicle nearby. Following further investigation, the 22-year-old male from Harper was arrested and charged with Failure to Identify Giving False or Fictitious Information, Criminal Trespass, and Terroristic Threat Against a Peace Officer. He was transported to the Gillespie County Jail.
