On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 3:52 p.m., a deputy received information regarding a vehicle linked to an individual wanted for failing to comply with sex offender registration in Bastrop County. The deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description but lost sight of it momentarily. Upon locating the vehicle in a business parking lot at 2966 East US Highway 290, the deputy identified it as the one sought. The driver then stopped at a nearby B&B and engaged in conversation with another individual.
Approaching the driver for identification, the deputy was met with resistance. The driver fled on foot, prompting a brief struggle before evading capture. With assistance from the Fredericksburg Police Department, the 25-year-old driver, hailing from McDade, TX, was later arrested on the outstanding warrant. Additional charges of resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, and evading arrest or detention were filed against him.
