The City of San Antonio Neighborhood and Housing Services Department, in collaboration with the San Antonio Community Resource Directory (SACRD), has introduced a new Housing Services Portal aimed at centralizing information on housing-related services in the city. The portal, launched on April 23, serves as a digital hub for individuals seeking supportive housing services.
The initiative aligns with the City’s Strategic Housing Implementation Plan (SHIP), which emphasizes the need for a comprehensive housing resource accessible online. The SACRD Housing Services Portal aims to fulfill this need by offering a range of services including affordable housing options, utility and rental assistance, legal aid, eviction intervention, relocation services, home maintenance, and more.
Veronica Garcia, Director of the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, stating, "We are thrilled to unveil the SACRD Housing Services Portal, a vital resource designed to streamline access to housing services and support in our community." She emphasized the importance of addressing housing challenges and ensuring access to resources for all residents.
The portal, available in both English and Spanish, was developed collaboratively with input from various housing and human services providers, as well as community organizations. Bill Neely, Executive Director for SACRD, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, "SACRD is pleased to continue our partnership with the City of San Antonio to collect and share information on the crucial services people in our community need."
The launch event included a training session for local nonprofit organizations, providing them with the necessary tools to effectively utilize the portal. Attendees received tangible resources and collateral materials to facilitate their use of the platform and to help promote it within their networks. The training session also featured a live Q&A session to address any queries regarding the portal's functionality and features.
The SACRD Housing Services Portal can be found at SACRD.org/housingservices. SACRD will offer routine training sessions on the Housing Services Portal to interested community partners, agencies and others as well as provide instructional videos on SACRD.org.
