Fredericksburg Police Pursue Charges in Tinder App Scam Case

Fredericksburg Police Department received a complaint on Friday, December 29, 2023, regarding a suspicious incident at the complainant's residence on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. The complainant reported meeting a male subject named "Tim" on the dating app "Tinder," but lacked his last name and vehicle description.

Upon inviting the subject into their home, the complainant agreed to be tied up. During this time, the subject accessed the complainant's phone, transferring approximately $300 from their "Cash App" account to his own. The complainant managed to reclaim the funds through a Fraud Report to their insurance company.

Collaborating with Selma Police Department, San Antonio Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Analysts, and Rangers, investigators identified a suspect, Chong-Yun MOUNCE, an Asian male. MOUNCE was apprehended by the San Antonio Police Department Special Victim’s Unit on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Fredericksburg Police Department detectives have coordinated with other agencies to share investigative leads. Search warrants have been issued for certain app accounts potentially linked to MOUNCE.

The Fredericksburg Police Department is pursuing criminal charges against MOUNCE related to the incident on December 26, 2023. The investigation remains ongoing, with updates to follow as information arises.
