On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at around 7:00 AM, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call from a female residing in the 400 block of Deer Valley Street in Canyon Lake. The caller reported a physical altercation with her boyfriend.
Upon arrival, deputies found a male individual on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Efforts to save his life were undertaken by deputies, alongside assistance from Canyon Lake Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Unfortunately, the victim, identified as 62-year-old Edward Canales of Canyon Lake, succumbed to his injuries. Justice of the Peace Tom Clark pronounced him deceased at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
The female involved was taken into custody for questioning by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office.
As of now, no arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing, led by detectives from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Texas Rangers.
