On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at around 7:00 AM, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call from a woman residing in the 400 block of Deer Valley Street in Canyon Lake.
The caller reported being involved in a physical altercation with her boyfriend. Upon arrival, deputies found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Attempts to save him were made by deputies and Canyon Lake Fire and Emergency Medical Services, but the victim, identified as 62-year-old Edward Canales of Canyon Lake, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Tom Clark. An autopsy has been ordered.
The woman involved was taken in for questioning by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. As of now, no arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing, with detectives from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers working on the case. Next of kin has been informed of the incident.
