On Monday, March 4, 2024, at approximately 7:03 p.m., a Gillespie County deputy on patrol witnessed a concerning incident involving a truck-tractor and trailer on South US Highway 87. The vehicle was observed swerving off the roadway and back into the left lane, prompting two other vehicles to take evasive action to avoid a collision by crossing into oncoming traffic.
Following the incident, the deputy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South US Highway 87 and Breezy Hills Drive. Upon approaching the vehicle, it was discovered that the driver, identified as 17-year-old Yader Omar Albarenga-Figueroa from Del Valle, TX, did not possess a driver’s license.
During the interaction, Albarenga-Figueroa admitted that it was his first time driving an 18-wheeler and he was en route to San Antonio with several crushed cars. Due to the reckless driving behavior and the absence of a driver’s license, Albarenga-Figueroa was placed under arrest for No Driver’s License. The 18-wheeler was towed by a local wrecker for further handling.
